KEEPING IT ALIVE IN 2005
February 1, 2005
Dear Huntington High School Black Alumni,
This letter comes to you with information relative to this year's reunion. We have designed a quality weekend for your enjoyment and we hope that you will be able to attend. The date for this homecoming is set for August 11 th through August 13 th , 2005.
We are continuing to compile a list of names and addresses of all former HHS black alumnus, however we need your input with names and addresses. If you possess names and addresses of fellow alumnus, please mail them to Kathy McClain at above address or e-mail them to Kathy at Nutzmegz111@adelphia.net. The committee started meeting on a regular basis after the first of the year and we are putting together a package you will not soon forget.
We will begin registration at the Big Sandy Super Store Convention Center at 6pm to 11pm on Thursday 8/11, with a hospitality room for your enjoyment. Friday activities include continuing registration beginning at 9am to 12 noon and 5pm to 7pm. Friday night is packed with excitement as we participate in Mardi Gras Night at Tri-State Greyhound Park in Cross Lanes, WV beginning at 630pm until 11 pm. (Transportation and Food Provided).
For those not wishing to participate in Mardi Gras night, arrangements have been made for your enjoyment at the Funny Bone Comedy Club (Dinner included)(anticipated opening-April 2005) located in the new Pullman Square or attend the Cabaret/Reverse Raffle at the Super Store Arena. (The Cabaret is the second option contingent upon the opening of the Funny Bone Comedy Club.) This gives you a choice of events for Friday evening. Saturday will be a busy day beginning with a picnic, business meeting, tour and group picture from 11 am to 3 pm at Huntington High School . Please note that children five years of age and under are free, however children 6 to 12 years of age can attend the picnic at an additional cost of $7.50/child as well as children 13 and up can attend at an additional cost of $15.00/child. The banquet will begin at 6 pm to 8:30 pm and the dance beginning at 9 pm until 1 am. Those wishing to attend just the dance Saturday night are ask to pay $20.00 at the door.
The cost of the reunion package is $150.00 per person , but as you can see there will be a lot to do. We have booked a block of rooms at the Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites (This hotel is adjacent to the Big Sandy Arena.) ($75.00/ double Per Night) and the Ramada Limited ($68.40/ dbl per night) in the name of HHS Black Alumni. We also have rooms blocked at the Super 8 Motel as well at a cost of ($62.95/ dbl per night). You will need to make your own reservation using the name HHS Black Alumni. You have included with this letter the registration form relative to the reunion. We strongly urge you to send in your form and payment ASAP, as the deadline for pre-registration is June 30, 2005. The reason for this is so we can get a count on how many are needing transportation to Mardi Gras night in Cross Lanes, WV, whereby we can secure the buses and to know as to how many are participating in the Comedy Club or Cabaret/Reverse Raffle.
If should have any questions concerning this matter, please contact Kevin or Kathy McClain at (304) 523-8859 or myself at (304) 525-2332.
We hope this letter finds you all doing well and we hope to see you in August.
Sincerely,
Cheryl White,
President |
